Transient Light

Commissioned by Jakobstad Sinfonietta and is dedicated to Hervè Joulain

First performed November 2013, Rusk Chamber Music Festival, Finland, by Hervè Joulain (horn), John Storgårds (violin), Markus Hohti (cello) and Henri Sigfridsson (piano)

"The musical expression in this composition reflects the materials I have used, developed and worked with with during the last ten years. The title refers to an abstract perception of musical material as light that travels through time slowly changing and developing. The wonderful sound-quality, expression and the sensitive and at the same time strong musicianship of Herve Joulain had a great impact on me during the compositional process and a new and special emphasis on melody can in this piece be detected."
